Above the Golden State first came out with their single “Sound of Your Name” in 2008, with their self-titled debut album Above the Golden State [Sparrow Records] launched on July 22 in the same year. Listening to their album, you’d find the undertones of the band’s musical influences ranging from Weezer, Five Iron Frenzy, Delirious?, The Beatles and Duke Ellington.
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Above the Golden State grooves with lead singer Michael Watson, dummer Brook Mosser, and keyboardist Tim Aylward. All three have previously partnered with some of the best Christian artists such as Telecast, Falling Up, Kutless, Shawn MacDonald, and Paul Wright. As a band, they also joined Starfield’s I Will Go tour in 2008.
We can definitely look forward to Above the Golden State’s rise in the Christian music scene with their eyes focused on God.
Watson states on the band’s Facebook page that, ““Above The Golden State has no desire to bring glory to itself but to join in with you and everyone else to glorify God together. We know not to find our worth in anything other than Jesus Christ. We are in this together. We are the church, the body of Christ; this music is to fix the ‘gaze of our soul’ on Jesus, our Hope of Glory! These songs are meant to be sung in the heart and mind of the listener, like a soundtrack to our lives.”

JAYESSLEE signing Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are”!
Catch them live in Manila on June 21, 2012 at the 3/f Robinsons Forum Pioneer!

Thanks to the world of Youtube, world-class talents such as twin sisters Janice and Sonia Lee are now certified singing sensations. Having garnered over 58,842,123 video views around the world, these sisters are showing the world that they’ve got a lot of talent and love to offer people who are willing to listen. (And trust us, a lot of people are willing to listen :) )
In 2008, the duo discovered the world of YouTube. Fascinated by the concept of connecting with an unseen audience all over the world, they created their first account under the name “Jayesslee”. The name was their attempt to be clever – fusing both of their initials and spelling it out.
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia to Korean parents, Janice and Sonia never thought that they would be touring the United States of America, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada and now – for the first time ever – the Philippines!
On June 21, 2012 (Thursday), JAYESSLEE will be stepping out of the virtual world and will be performing LIVE at Robinsons Forum (Pioneer) 7:30 in the evening with their inspiring, feel-good, and passionate music.
Catch them LIVE IN MANILA as they continue their Asian tour in the Philippines!

Once again, the Big Dome was filled with thousands of people rising up their voices to God as the Planetshakers with Israel Houghton and New Breed rocked Manila last April 21, 2012! This sold out concert had people full of excitement and joy when they finally entered Araneta, rushing to their seats the moment doors opened. And who wouldn’t be excited with a collaboration between these two well-loved artists?
Following their concert last year, the Planetshakers teamed up with the well-loved multiple Dove award winner Israel Houghton & New Breed, for an Asian tour. This concert was also Israel Houghton’s first visit to the Philippines.
With 13,000 people on their feet, Israel Houghton & New Breed opened the night with their own version of “Awesome God”, transitioning smoothly for people to start grooving to the beats of “Again I Say”, “Everywhere I Go”, “You Are Good”, “Moving Forward”, “Say So” and other beloved songs.
Then the Planetshakers took the stage with their explosive song, “You Are Good”. The crowd was fired up as they sang the song with all their hearts and strength. The Planetshakers rocked the house with energetic, up-beat songs such as “Get Up”, “No Compromise”, and heartfelt worship songs like, “Heal Our Land” from their new album, “The Anthem” and more!
The most interesting surprise for the night was when Israel Houghton & New Breed merged together with the Planetshakers on stage, singing “Nothing is Impossible”. Not only that, both teams enjoyed playing together so much that they performed a drums- guitar-bass exhibition to entertain the crowd.
Israel Houghton tweeted right after the concert that, “It’s official!!! Manila is the loudest place we’ve ever been. @joelhouston and @christomlin were right!!!!”, tagging Hillsong United’s Joel Houston and Passion’s Chris Tomlin who previously held concerts in Manila. Israel Houghton also said that Manila has an “amazing heart for worship.”
Jumping high, singing out loud, and lifting up Jesus in every song they sang, these two bands truly led Manila to a new experience of God’s love and power that changed us from the inside out.
